Images that include a recognizable individual, face, or body, require a model release.
Recognizable buildings, interiors, original art, private property, and tattoos are examples of the types of property that require a property release.
Noun Project’s photo curation team may choose to accept a photo that does not have model and/or property releases under Editorial Use Only restriction if the photo serves the purpose of illustrating cultural or newsworthy events.
You can add a release to your images or photo shoots, by following the prompts on the photo upload tool. Model and property releases must be submitted in PDF format and 3MB or less.
It is the photographer’s responsibility to research and provide the types of releases that are required.
